Brexit may have been delayed again and another general election is looming, but at least Prue and Paul could agree on a new Great British Baker (fingers crossed no one will call for another vote!)
As November gets off to a bang, let’s take a look at the movers and shakers from October…
Houses of Parliament Delivery Authority
London’s Transport Commissioner Mike Brown is set to leave Transport for London (TfL) to oversee the restoration of the Houses of Parliament, as Chair of the Delivery Authority. Brown will continue in his role for the remainder of Sadiq Khan’s current term.
SNC Lavalin Atkins
Former HS2 Chief Operating Officer Richard Robinson has joined as CEO of its UK and Europe region. Robinson resigned as HS2 Chief Operating Officer last month after just a year in the role.
Atkins have also appointed Dr Vicky Hutchinson as the company’s new Environment Practice Director for the UK and Europe. Hutchinson joins Atkins from ISG, where she was the Head of Social Value.
Matt Byrne has been appointed President, UK Region, Bombardier Transportation and Chair, Bombardier Transportation UK Ltd. Byrne replaces Phil Hufton who is leaving for personal reasons. Byrne joined the company in 2000 and has most recently been Head of Global Services.
Crossrail’s have announced Neil Thompson as their new Commercial Director, he joins from Network Rail. Neil Thompson replaces Paul Grammer who left in January.
They also announced the appointment of Sherif Narouz to Supply Chain Delivery Director, moving across from London Underground where he has been for the last 3 years.
Have appointed Doug Wilson as its new Global Sector Leader for Advisory Services. Wilson has been with the company since 2002, most recently as GM Global Development & Africa.
Group Chief Executive Juliette Stacey has left the company, following the management buyout of its Australia and New Zealand subsidiary Mabey ANZ, meaning its UK plant-hire business is the only remaining entity. Maybey Hire will continue to be led by Gordon MacDonald.
Balfour Beatty’s Managing Director for its construction business in the south of England, Dave Smith, is leaving to take up a Non-Executive Chairman’s role at Kent contractor AMCM. Smith joined Balfour Beatty last autumn after spending 32 years at Wates where he was Chief Operating Officer.
Zoe Price has been appointed as new Chief Operating Officer for the UK construction arm of the company. Price has over eight years’ experience at ISG, most recently as Group Director for Public Sector Frameworks.
Guillaume Chanussot, Finance Director for Keolis UK has been appointed as the next Managing Director for the Manchester tram network, operated by the KeolisAmey joint venture. Chanussot has been the Finance Director for Keolis UK since June 2017 and succeeds Aline Frantzen, who has moved internally to become Chief Executive Officer US Bus Operations for Keolis.
Civil Aviation Authority
Jon Clyne joins the CAA as Head of Cost Assessment, Heathrow Expansion Programme. He joins from Jacobs where he has been Global Practice Lead & Director Economics.
Wabtec Faiveley UK
Andy Derbyshire has joined as Group Managing Director UK. Derbyshire leaves Bombardier where he has most recently been Chief Operating Officer & VP Project Management.
Andy Alcock has been appointed as Project Director, Major Projects. Alcock leaves Jacobs where he has been Construction Manager on Thames Tideway for the last 4 years.
Have appointed former WSP IT Director, Tony Scott as their new Global Technology Director. Scott joined the business in May this year as Digital Transformation Director.
Jon Veitch has been appointed as Managing Director of the rolling stock manufacturer having been Key Account Manager, UK & Ireland since 2017.
Have appointed Nathan Marsh as its first Chief Digital Officer and a member of its executive board, responsible for leading the implementation of Costain’s commercial digital strategy. Marsh joins from Atkins where he was most recently Director – Digital Transformation, UK & Europe.
Mace has restructured its group board and wider leadership teams, creating four new divisional CEOs. From January, David Grover will be appointed as CEO for ‘Develop’; Jason Millett will be appointed as CEO for ‘Consult’, Gareth Lewis will be appointed CEO for ‘Construct’ with Mark Castle taking on the role of Chief Operating Officer; and Ross Abbate will be appointed as CEO for Mace Macro, Mace’s Operate business.
Mark Holmes will also take on the role of Deputy Chairman of Mace.
Capita Real Estate and Infrastructure
Ruairi Martin joins as Aviation Director. Martin leaves Atkins where he has been Aviation Director since 2015.
The Go-Ahead Group
Frazer Stirling has moved internally to become Business Development Director responsible for the development and implementation of Go-Ahead’s market entry strategy for the Australasia region. Stirling has been Head of Fleet with the group since 2013.
Mark Cleverley, Head of Commercial Developers, has announced his resignation from the business at the end of the month. Arcadis are currently looking for a successor.
Have appointed former Galliford Try Managing Director for Infrastructure Nick Salt as its new UK Chief Executive. Salt will start his role in November and replaces Pascal Mercier, who has returned to France to take up a role in Systra’s new France and International Services division in Paris.
Emma Porter has been named the new Managing Director of Story Contracting’s Construction Division. Porter returned to the business earlier this year as Construction Director.
South East Wales Transport Commission
Have appointed three new members to the commission. Peter Jones joins from UCL where he is a Professor of Transport and Sustainable Development, Lynn Sloman is a Director for the Transport for Quality of Life consultancy, and Elaine Seagriff is a Strategic Transport Planner who has worked for TfL and became West of England Combined Authority’s Interim Head of Transport in 2017.
David Hughes is set to join as Director of Strategy and Programmes. He leaves TfL where he has most recently been Investment Delivery Planning Director.
UK Chairman, Sir David Cooksey has stepped down from the role after 11 years. The company has confirmed they are seeking a replacement.
Currie & Brown
Campbell Gray joins as Chief Operating Officer for Integrated Project Management, based in the Middle East. Gray moves from Faithful + Gould where he has been Managing Director – Middle East & Africa.
Huw Morgan has been appointed as Head of Integrated Transport. Morgan moves across from Caerphilly County Borough Council where he has been for the last 23 years.
