Movers and Shakers in Transport & Infrastructure – The Headlines from August

The bank holiday weekend seems like a distant memory now as we roll in to September and leave the summer behind us. This month saw the launch of First Group’s new South Western Franchise and the Queensferry Crossing opened after nearly a decade of planning.

 

Let’s take a look at the big movers and shakers in transport and infrastructure:

South Western Railway

FirstGroup have announced the senior management team for the new South Western train operating company.

In addition to Andy Mellors, previously announced as Managing Director, Jacqueline Dey has been appointed as Operations Director. Neil Drury has been appointed as Engineering Director. Alan Penlington joins from Virgin Atlantic as Customer Experience Director. Joost Noordewier will be Commercial and Business Development Director. Chris Cornthwaite has been appointed as Finance Director and Seamus Scallon, Safety Director, First Rail, will act as Safety, Sustainability and Security Director.

 

Balfour Beatty

Have promoted Thomas Edgcumbe to Managing Director (UKCS Midlands & North). He was previously Head of Rail and Civils Enhancements.

 

Graham

Have appointed two new directors to head up its road and rail businesses. Jonathan Kerr has been named Director of Rail, with Dave Brown promoted to Contracts Director for highways.

 

Colas Rail

Iain Anderson has been appointed as Managing Director – Urban Rail. He was previously Executive Development Director with the contractor.

 

HB Reavis

Paul Neto, Managing Director of Construction, has exited less than 12 months into his role, having previously been Director of Vinci’s London building division.

 

East Midlands Trains

Adam Piddington takes up the position of Customer Experience Director, he joins from South West Trains.

 

Stagecoach Group

Have appointed Kelly Barlow as Bid Director for the (West Coast Partnership). She moves from South West Trains where she was Demobilisation Director leading the transfer of SSWT franchise to First/MTR.

 

Royal Haskoning DHV

Marwan AL-Azzawi has joined as Director -Transport and Planning, Advisory Group, in its Manchester office. He was Regional Director of Louis Berger.

Galliford Try

Tom de la Motte, Galliford’s Infrastructure Managing Director, will exit at the end of next month and is to be replaced by their current Rail, Aviation and Environment Managing Director Nick Salt.

 

Hochtief (UK) Construction

Lawrence Jackson has been appointed Managing Director as former MD Sally Cox stepped down after two years.

 

Manchester Airports Group

Have announced a shakeup of it’s executive committee. Ken O’Toole will take up the role of Chief Executive at London Stansted Airport, while Andrew Cowan will replace him as Chief Executive at Manchester Airport, in a job swap. At the same time, Collette Roche will take up a new role as Chief of Staff at MAG.

 

Skanska

Dana Skelley has left Transport for London, where she was Director of Road Asset Management, to join Skanska as Director of Strategy and Operational Excellence.

 

Arriva Trains Wales

Tom Joyner has been appointed as Managing Director of Arriva Train Wales. Tom is currently Passenger Services Director for London Midland and will take up the post with Arriva on the 2nd October 2017.

 

CampbellReith

Adam Fisher, previously Associate with the consulting firm has been made a Partner.

 

City Surveys

Dan Rodgers joins as Chief Operating Officer. He leaves AECOM where he was Operations Director, Transportation and Civil Infrastructure.

 

London Midland

Mark Steward moves to London Midland to take up the role of Passenger Services Director. He moves from South West Trains where he was Operations Director.
