Contracts Manager

Location: West London

Industry: Building & Infrastructure Projects

Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 salary + Car Allowance + 25% Bonus

Our client is a household name and a major transport and infrastructure company. They seek a Contracts Manager to join their team at an influential level, delivering value for money on a wide range of commercial activity across their capital projects portfolio.
The Contracts Manager will have significant delegated authority to deliver the capital investment plan, this will include; managing the procurement process, leading negotiations with their framework contractors and the subsequent contract management of suppliers using the NEC3 suite of contracts.
Responsibilities:
  • Operate independently in the sourcing and contract administration of the complete suite of contracts (typically NEC3), administering and managing work packages
  • Manage relationships with suppliers (contractors and consultants), monitoring and reporting on their performance
  • Support the assurance of all commercial activity within the delivery area including cost plans, cost reports, risk allocation and change management
  • Where appropriate, challenge/negotiate costs, scope and timescales provided by the supply chain, the business and consultants to ensure that they are robust and represent excellent value for money
  • Provide support with the management of risk by ensuring that identified risks are adequately costed and allocated between the company and the supply chain in order to ensure that sufficient risk provisions have been made
  • Contribute towards strategic initiatives, pioneering new ways of working and promote leading practices that instil commercial rigor, insight and discipline
  • Conduct strategic reviews of the development and implementation of the contract management process to realise maximum benefit from the sourcing activity and provide feedback to relevant business areas.

The successful candidate will have the following experience, skills and competencies:

  • Graduate level supported by professional qualifications e.g. MRICS, CIPS, APM, CEng or able to demonstrate equivalent capability along with legal awareness and commercial experience in drafting complex and bespoke contract terms
  • Good experience in a variety of Procurement and Contracting models (NEC3 is preferred) using a range of reimbursement models
  • Experience of delivering capital projects to meet business affordability targets
  • Experience of working in an integrated project team involving supplier partnering organisations
  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation with proven people and stakeholder management skills
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and experience of working in a structured process environment
