Description

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy, is looking to recruit a Rail Sector Director to lead and grow their rail division in Ireland. This role will be instrumental in expanding our client’s presence in the Irish market, with a goal to scale the rail team to 50-100 staff over the next five years.

Working closely with key transport clients, the successful candidate will focus on winning major contracts, delivering high-quality advisory and engineering services, and building a high-performing team.

You will play a central role in business development, client relationship management, and strategic team leadership, while also contributing to the delivery of selected projects in a senior oversight capacity.

This is a leadership role suited to someone who is passionate about the future of sustainable transport in Ireland and eager to make a lasting impact on national infrastructure development.

 

 Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic growth and development of our client’s rail division in Ireland.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
  • Secure new work to underpin the division’s growth.
  • Oversee recruitment, team development, and performance management for a growing rail team.
  • Provide leadership and oversight on major projects, particular in advisory, engineering/design, and PMCM (Project/Commercial Management) services.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure delivery excellence.
  • Represent our client at industry events and act as a spokesperson for our rail capabilities in Ireland.

 

Requirements

  • Experience in the rail sector, with strong knowledge of the Irish market.
  • Background in consultancy with proven ability to work alongside engineering professionals.
  • Strong business development skills and a track record of winning significant contracts.
  • Effective leader with experience in building and managing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • An engineering degree is not required, but an understanding of engineering and infrastructure delivery is essential.
