Description

Our client, a major UK contracting organisation, is seeking a seasoned and dynamic Project Director to lead a major heavy civil engineering project. This is one of the largest projects in their business, on a high-profile programme and has the potential to be transformative in how they deliver major projects.

This project is not just about delivering a job; it’s about pioneering new ways of delivering major projects in the sector including: reducing carbon, working in a collaborative enterprise, using production thinking in construction delivery, harnessing digital techniques and using modern methods of construction. As the Project Director, you will play a crucial role in shaping our client's operational approaches and driving long-term strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills to foster a truly collaborative project environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the overall project and delivery strategy for this £1bn+ project.
    ‍
  • Create a collaborative environment, encouraging diverse teams to work together towards common goals.
    ‍
  • Drive the transformation of operational practices within the business unit.
    ‍
  • Ensure the project meets a range of deliverables, including carbon management, ambitious social targets, and innovative construction methods to maintain operations and meet timeline targets.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior leadership role delivering complex major infrastructure programmes or leading a large infrastructure construction business. Experience of linear construction projects with extensive structures would be an advantage.

  • Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills, with a track record of uniting diverse teams to achieve common goals.

  • Experience in transforming operational practices and driving long-term strategic initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of carbon management, CSG and innovative construction methods.
    ‍
  • Ability to manage complex partnerships and alliances, with a focus on collaborative and commercial success.
    ‍
  • Assured communicator, comfortable influencing and communicating at both executive and operational levels.
