Description

Our client, a Tier 1 energy contractor, is looking to recruit Commercial Director to lead the commercial activities for a major project in its early stages within a major transmission and distribution framework. This role will be responsible for overseeing commercial activities, from negotiation and contract management to financial oversight and stakeholder collaboration. This is a unique opportunity to lead a high-value project in the UK.

Responsibilities

  • Be accountable for the commercial strategy and execution of the project, ensuring financial targets and project budgets are met.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts and target costs.
  • Set up and recruit the commercial team for the project.
  • Collaborate with project partners and stakeholders, maintaining effective communication and relationships.
  • Provide commercial advice and support to project teams.
  • Ensure the requirements of the contract are understood and adhered to by the project team.
  • Lead the development and implementation of project commercial plans.
  • Ensure project works are planned and scheduled at an appropriate level of detail.
  • Support the project management team with resource and cost forecasting.
  • Establish and promote best practices in health, safety, and environmental matters.

Requirements

  • Proven track record in a senior commercial role within major project contractors.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
  • Relevant sector experience is preferable but not mandatory.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a leadership role in project management for a major contractor.
  • Experience leading collaborative progressive construction contracts.
  • Ability to influence, and the integrity to develop trust and respect.
  • A collaborative team player with strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritise objectives and work to deadlines.
