Description

Our client, a leading energy sector asset owner, is seeking a dynamic and innovative Director to lead the delivery of a rapidly growing portfolio of electricity transmission projects. A new 5 year investment period will drive annual capex from £1bn to £2bn per annum. The client needs an individual to deliver the portfolio and introduce modern construction methods such as modularisation to the design and construction delivery phases.

This is a rare opportunity to redefine project execution in a high-profile, fast-moving sector, delivering essential infrastructure to support the UK's growing demand for energy-intensive industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multidisciplinary major infrastructure portfolio across the UK consisting of equipment installation, M&E and civils works.
  • Oversee an integrated team of 100+ staff across project delivery, controls, and design, while establishing a new logistics team to streamline materials and equipment deployment.
  • Drive “production thinking”, introducing scalable, repeatable, and faster construction methodologies to reduce build times from 4 years to 1 year.
  • Enhance standardisation in design and optimise logistics to improve efficiency and delivery.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, from internal teams to global EPCs, Tier 1 contractors, and major supply chain partners.
  • Develop and implement a high-speed, scalable construction delivery model to meet ambitious timelines.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing project delivery team, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
  • Oversee complex logistics operations, ensuring materials and critical equipment reach sites in the most efficient way possible.
  • Drive standardisation in design to reduce engineering timelines and streamline execution.
  • Manage and optimise relationships with Tier 1 contractors and EPCs, ensuring cost, time, and quality targets are met.
  • Maintain high safety standards, embedding a strong HSE culture across all projects.

Ideal Candidate Profile

This role demands a leader with a strong private sector mindset, where speed to revenue generation is paramount. You should have a track record in sectors known for innovative, fast-paced, and modular construction methodologies, such as:

  • Oil & Gas
  • Data Centres
  • Manufacturing & Pharmaceuticals
  • Global EPC & Tier 1 Contractors

This is a high-impact role, offering the chance to transform how National Grid delivers critical infrastructure in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. If you have the vision, drive, and expertise to revolutionise large-scale energy project delivery, we want to hear from you.
