Our client, a leading energy sector asset owner, is seeking a highly experienced Delivery Director to lead a £2bn infrastructure programme.

The programme portfolio consists of 4 major projects. 3 are commencing the construction delivery phase, with 1 nearing government approval.

This is an exceptional opportunity to have a lasting impact on the UK’s energy transition.

The ideal candidate will need a track-record of successfully delivering major infrastructure programmes in the construction phase. They will be responsible for delivering to time, quality and cost, building collaborative working relationships with the contracting supply chain under the NEC form of contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • End-to-end responsibility for the successful completion of complex infrastructure projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with both internal teams and external stakeholders, including regulators, supply chain partners, and industry leaders.
  • Foster and champion a strong health and safety culture, driving performance to the highest standards.
  • Lead, coach, and inspire project teams, ensuring resources are optimally aligned with business objectives and budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure project milestones are met or exceeded, and operations are well-integrated across multiple functions to support strategic objectives.
  • Oversee and direct major project operations, ensuring efforts are cohesive and aligned with company goals.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Engineering/Programme Management Chartership or construction-related degree.
  • Proven leadership of large, complex infrastructure (Power, T&D, Rail, Highways, Nuclear, Defence, Water etc) programmes in the construction delivery phase, enabling teams to innovate and deliver efficiently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of leading large, diverse teams and securing commitment from operational groups.
  • Expertise in managing significant commercial relationships, with experience in negotiating and managing large contracts to drive value.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and business improvement within large, complex organisations.
  • Financial acumen, with the ability to make strategic decisions on resource allocation and improve programme outcomes.
  • Strong ability to challenge and report on key milestones affecting programme delivery.
