Our client is a joint venture of major construction companies, delivering one of the main civils contracts for HS2. They are seeking to recruit a Construction Director to head up a major section of their civils programme, providing strategic operational management and strong leadership of a multidisciplinary team.
As Construction Director, you will be responsible for three Senior Project Managers, with dedicated safety, project controls, engineering and commercial support also reporting in.
Responsibilities
- Ownership, monitoring, and management of the budget for the works.
- Interface with other Team Leaders, managing a team of supervisory and engineering staff, and leading project steering groups and cross-discipline action groups.
- Set and manage targets and KPI’s in line with Project / Business objectives and monitors performance, steering towards success.
- Ensures that sufficient resources are allocated to the works section and that each has an appropriate level of ability. Establishes opportunities for mentoring to facilitate this.
- Manages the procurement of subcontractors and advises on commercial aspects / preferred attendances and operational risks to the scheme and mitigation options.
Requirements
- Has experience leading delivery of a c£200m+ infrastructure contract in either a project management or construction management capacity.
- Significant experience on large civil engineering projects that include earthworks, structures, tunnelling, or other heavy civils element.
- Proven track record of managing and leading large teams coupled with strong communication skills.
- Able to communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately.
- Takes ownership of tasks and communicated outcomes with clarity, direction and purpose, including managing others in this regard.
- Strong work ethic with flexibility.
- Able to frequently work on own initiative and seek opportunities line with level of responsibility and lead and manage others in this regard.
