Movers and Shakers in Transport & Infrastructure for October 2017

The big news for Newsom Consulting this month has been a move of our own. Due to the compulsory purchase of our office by HS2, we’ve relocated. But just across the road, so if you’re in Euston feel free to pop in for a chat.

Let’s take a look at who else has moved in transport and infrastructure this month?

Carillion

Have announced the appointment of current Wates Chief Andrew Davies as its new CEO. He will officially leave Wates on 10th November and take over at Carillion in April 2018.

They have also brought in former Costain and Jarvis boss Alan Lovell as a Non-Executive Director.

Murphy Group

Have appointed John B Murphy, as Chief Executive to succeed current incumbent Steve Hollingshead, who will remain on the Murphy board as a Non-Executive Director. John will take up the reins in January, following in the footsteps of his Grandfather who founded the company in 1951.

Ian Holcroft also joins as the firm’s new Director of Procurement. He has previously headed up procurement at Laing O’Rourke and Bouygues joint venture BYLOR at Hinkley Point C.

Capita

Have appointed the former Chief Executive of Amec Foster Wheeler, Jonathan Lewis, as its new boss. This follows the announcement that Andy Parker was stepping down back in March.

The real estate and advisory division of the consultancy company have also appointed Dwayne Brook as Commercial Director.

West of England Combined Authority

Patricia Greer has been appointed as Chief Executive of the new authority, having been Interim CEO since June last year. A Director of Infrastructure is yet to be recruited.

Etihad

Former Heathrow Airport CEO Tony Douglas has been made Group CEO of Etihad. Tony, who will take up his new role in January, has most recently served as CEO of the UK’s Ministry of Defence Equipment and Support Department.

CBRE

Have appointed Amanda Clack as Head of Strategic Consulting. Amanda moves from EY where she was Partner, she is also the President of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) effective until 7th November 2017.

DfT

Martin Capstick, Director of Regional Transport Strategies is leaving at the end of the year to become Managing Director of the North London Waste Authority.

Arup

Andrew Went has been appointed as Director of High Speed Rail. He moves from Network Rail where he was Development Director for their Crewe Hub.

Bristol Water

Iain McGuffog has been appointed as Director of Strategy and Regulation to oversee the company’s long-term strategy and its PR19 business plan. McGuffog joins from Ofwat, where he was Director of Strategy and Planning.

Mace

Have recruited Aecom Director Carl Dainter as its new Head of Aviation. The appointment comes after several new contract wins, including the delivery of a new terminal at Amsterdam’s Schipol Airport and as one of Heathrow’s programme client partners.

Bosch

Nick Reed leaves TRL where he was Academy Director to join Bosch as Head of Mobility R & D where he will focus on future mobility particularly in cities.

Arriva Trains Wales

Tom Joyner joins as Managing Director. He was previously Passenger Services Director for London Midland and takes over from Ian

Bullock who is stepping down as Managing Director.

Galliford Try

Chris Scoffield takes on the role of Managing Director of Rail, Aviation and Environment. He moves up from his role as Commercial Director of the division and replaces Nick Salt after he was promoted to Managing Director of Infrastructure in August.

KPMG

Have appointed Ed Thomas as UK Head of Transport, succeeding James Stamp who has moved to National Express to take up the position of Commercial Director. Ed was previously Partner of KPMG’s Transport Advisory division.

Transport for the North

Have announced the appointment of Barry White as its new Chief Executive. He joins from his role as Chief Executive at Scottish Futures Trust.

HS2

Chief Financial Officer, Steve Allen, has resigned from his post after two years in the position. He will be replaced in January by Elizabeth Gillbe who joins from Crossrail where she was Finance and Analysis Director

Serco

Kevin Craven has been promoted from CEO Central Government (UK) to CEO of Serco UK & Europe. Kevin has been with the company since leaving Balfour Beatty in 2014.

Mott MacDonald

Kate Kenny joins as Operations Manager – Surface Transport. She moves from Jacobs where she was Divisional Director.

COWI

Eva MacInnes has been promoted to Regional Director for Scotland. She joins COWI’s UK tunnels leadership team with responsibility for the performance of the Scottish business.

Atkins

Has expanded its Intelligent Mobility Practice with the appointment of Louise Lawrence to iM Practice Director, UK and Europe, having previously been Tolling Services Director.

Transdev Auckland

Peter Lensink has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer of the New Zealand based rail operator. He leaves Abellio Group where he was Commercial Director, UK Bus Division.

Aarsleff Ground Engineering

Managing Director Chris Primett has left the business in a management restructure. Stig Weis will step in as temporary Managing Director working from Denmark.

Energy UK

Has announced Lord John Hutton will be its next chair succeeding Sir David Arculus, who steps down from the role on 7th December.

FM Conway

Wendy Bates joins as Business Services Director as the company continues to expand its operations across London and the Southern England. Wendy joins from Speedy where she was most recently Innovation and Client Experience Director.
