Summer seems to be over before it’s even begun in the UK, but despite the weather, holiday season is in full swing. Let’s take a look at who made a big move before jetting off for the summer with this month’s movers and shakers:
FirstGroup and MTR have announced that Andy Mellors has been appointed as Managing Director of the new South Western rail franchise, which launches on 20 August.
Following the retirement of Colin Stewart, Global and UKEMEA Rail Leader, Stefan Sanders has been appointed as Arup’s Lead for Rail (UKEMEA) having been with the consultant since 2003. Anna Squire has been appointed as Global Rail Leader based in Sydney.
Turner & Townsend
Have appointed James Dand as Chief Operating Officer replacing Tom Harrison who has recently retired. Paul Grace will take over from James as European Managing Director.
Paul Thomas leaves National Express’s bus division to become Managing Director for Stagecoach in the East of Scotland.
Has appointed boss of it’s Australia and New Zealand operations Lara Poloni as Chief Executive EMIA. She replaces Steve Morriss who will be moving to Los Angeles to head the US design consultancy services business. Todd Battley replaces Lara as Chief Executive of Aecom’s Australia and New Zealand operation.
Richard Howson steps down as CEO amidst Carillion’s shares plunging almost 40%. Keith Cochrane will cover the role until a new CEO is found. Keith has been a Senior Independent Director at Carillion since 2015.
The Nichols Group
Stuart Westgate returns to The Nichols Group after six years as Senior Partner. He leaves HS2 where he was Programme Development Director.
SES Engineering Services
Jason Knights has been appointed as Managing Director following the departure of previous incumbent Andy Wall. Andy leaves the company after less than a year in the role.
Have appointed John Wilkinson, former MD UK Infrastructure at Laing O’Rourke, as Executive Vice President based in Montreal.
Rider Levett Bucknall
Appoints five Mace executives to help drive its UK growth plans. Ian Blakeman has joined RLB as a Partner (Data Centres), he was previously Sector Director at Mace. Andrew Fettes-Brown has joined as a Senior Partner (Quantity Surveying), he was previously Operations Director at Mace. Nick Eliot has joined as a Senior Partner, he was previously Mace Head of London and the South-East. Paul Goodwin has joined RLB as a Partner (Engineering Services) and Tim Spencer has joined as Partner (Corporate Fit-outs).
Jesse Norman, the MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire, has replaced Andrew Jones as a parliamentary under-secretary of state for transport. Lord Callanan is the new parliamentary under-secretary of state for transport in the Lords replacing Lord Ahmed.
London Legacy Development Corporation
Network Rail boss, Sir Peter Hendy has been nominated as Chair of the LLDC.
Infrastructure Exports: UK
The Government has teamed up with contractors and consultants to create a new body with the purpose of targeting infrastructure projects internationally. The single “Team UK” consortium will be co-chaired by International Trade Minister Greg Hands and Wates Chairman James Wates.
Aline Frantzen has been appointed as Managing Director of the franchise. She was previously a Director at Keolis.
Have appointed Mark Titterington as its new Chief Executive. He will join the organisation in October.
Mouchel has officially changed it’s name to WSP across all of its UK operations after its acquisition back in November. Some members of the old Mouchel board have taken on senior positions in the news WP structure, including Miles Barnard as UK Chief Financial Officer.
Group Finance Director, Tim Haywood is stepping down after seven years with the firm. A replacement has yet to be found.
Philip Meikle has been appointed as Transport Strategy Director, moving from Cross Country Trains where he was Head of Franchise Growth and Development.
Peter Adams will join the airport in September as Chief Asset and Programme Officer. He joins from Highways England.
J Murphy & Sons
Graham Carr joins as Senior Operations Director. He leaves Carillion where he was Managing Director, Carillion Network Services.
West Midlands Combined Authority
Wolverhampton City Council Labour leader, Roger Lawrence has been appointed as Portfolio Lead for Transport.
John Henkel, Executive Sponsor for integrated and smart travel is set to retire, a replacement is yet to be announced.
Vinny Patel joins as Market Director of Transport Interchanges, he leaves Laing O’Rourke where he was Design and Development Leader.
Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation
Andreas Markides founder of Markides Associates has been appointed as president of CIHT for 2017 -2018.
