Movers and Shakers in Transport & Infrastructure – the headlines from May 2017

Election, election, election!

 

The manifestos have been released and while neither of the major parties have given much away regarding plans for UK infrastructure, we can only hope that whoever has your vote looks to continue investment in major key infrastructure projects and reduce the uncertainty caused by Brexit.

 

Let’s take a look at the major movers and shakers in transport and infrastructure for May:

Skanska
Gregor Craig has be appointed as its new president and CEO with Mike Putnam stepping down after seven years in the job. Gregor has been with the company since 2003.

Katy Dowding has been appointed Executive Vice President, fulfilling Craig’s previous role, taking executive responsibility for Skanska’s building operations.

Arcadis
Peter Oosterveer has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive, replacing Neil McArthur who left last October. He joins from Fluor where he was Chief Operating Officer.

Helen Bowkett has been appointed as Senior Technical Director, she joins from Peter Brett Associates where she was a Senior Associate.

Transport System Catapult
Paul Campion has been appointed as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Steve Yianni who left in January.

DfT
Bernadette Kelly has been appointed the DfT’s new Permanent Secretary following Philip Rutnam’s move to become Permanent Secretary at the Home Office.

Balfour Beatty
John Keaveney, who has spent the last three years as Managing Director for Balfour’s construction division (South), will leave at the end of July. He will return to Ireland to take up another role within the construction sector.

Serco
Peter Strachan, previously Managing Director of Caledonian Sleeper, has moved into a new role as Chairman, UK Rail. Keith Wallace has been appointed Managing Director, Caledonian Sleeper.

Royal BAM Group
Former Laing O’Rourke Managing Director Paul Sheffield is set to join the supervisory board, taking over from Peter Elverding who is stepping down due to health reasons.

Leeds Bradford Airport
Have appointed David Laws as their new CEO. He was previously Chief Executive of Newcastle Airport for 10 years

SGN
Simon Reilly has joined the gas distribution company as Commercial Director and Deputy CFO. He leaves Eversholt Rail Group where he was Head of Commercial Finance.

J. Murphy & Sons Limited
Murphy’s strengthen their engineering function with the appointment of two new Regional Heads of Engineering. Richard Sutherden takes on the position of Head of Engineering South, from AECOM where he was Technical Director and Paul Wilson is appointed as Head of Engineering North, joining from Kier.

Stuart Robertson joins as Project Director in their North region, from Graham Construction.

Turner & Townsend
Ian Ballentine has left Heathrow where he was Executive Procurement Director to join consultant Turner & Townsend where he has been immediately seconded to TfL as the transport body’s interim Director for its new major projects team.

Dynniq

Have announced that Operations Director Julian Lidiard will be stepping down from his role and handing over to Richard Bevins, current Head of Urban Operations.

Atkins
Neil Sutehall joins as Client Director, Transport for London. He moves from Aurecon where he was Client Director Strategy, Asia.

Highways England
Nick Aldworth has been appointed as Regional Director (South West), he moves from Transport for London where he was Head of Highways.

Arup
Dervilla Mitchell has been appointed Chair of Arup’s UK Middle East and Africa (UKMEA) Region. She is replacing Alan Belfield, who has become the Chief Operating Officer for Arup Group & Deputy Chair.

Richard Matthews will take over from Dervilla as their Aviation Lead for the UK, Middle East and Africa region.

AECOM
Have appointed Matthew Forbes as Chief Operating Officer, Operational Excellence. He joins from Balfour Beatty where he was Group Head of Strategy.

Bombardier
Executive Chairman Pierre Beaudoin is relinquishing his management role. The grandson of Bombardier’s founder will cede his position as Executive Chairman of Bombardier effective June 30, but continue to lead the board of directors as Chairman.

Steer Davies Gleave
Welcomes a new Director, John Dutton. John was one of the founders of CDL. His former CDL founder Andy Collinson joined SDG last year.

Mott MacDonald
Have appointed Gerard Fitzpatrick as Director of Rail, in their cost management division. He joins the consultancy from Currie & Brown.

Burns & McDonnell
Jonathan Chapman has been appointed as the new Managing Director UK helping the business establish it’s UK presence. Previously, Jonathan was Major Projects Director (Power T&D) at Balfour Beatty.

Mace
Michael Odling has moved to Mace as Rail Director (North). He joins from Jacobs where he was Rail Director.

Mabey
Have named Ian Matthews as National Operations Director, Stephen Hubbard as Chief Engineer and Jake Kaufman as the new Business Development Manager for instrumentation, as part of the firm’s long-term strategy.

Spie UK
Have appointed Rob Goodhew as its new UK CEO after incumbent James Thoden van Velzen opted to leave the company. Rob was previously Managing Director, Building Services with the company.

WSP
Frazer MacKay joins the consultant as UK Managing Director – Energy & Industry. He leaves Costain where he was Sector Director, Oil and Gas.

Darren Powell has been appointed as Senior Technical Director in its highways team, joining from Sweco where he was Operations Director.

Karen Dingley returns to WSP as their Head of Mining & Water Services from Golder Associates where she was European Mining Sector Leader.

SNC-Lavalin
Martin Giles, former Managing Director of Ricardo Rail (UK) has been appointed as Director – Projects.

ITS (UK)
Ian Patey of Mouchel has been approved as the new chairman, replacing TRL’s Chief Scientist Dr Alan Stevens who is stepping down after his two year term.

Alstom
Mike Muldoon has been appointed as Head of Strategy from his previous role as Commercial Director, Regional and Intercity.

Battersea Power Station
Project Director Aidan McLeod has resigned after nearly three years in the job, a replacement has yet to be announced.
