Movers and Shakers in Transport and Infrastructure – The Headlines from May

In a crushing blow for a lifelong Liverpool fan, Manchester City pipped us at the post to take the Premier League trophy. In other big news the month of May proved to be the end for May; as the PM resigned triggering a Tory leadership contest. Here are the other big moves of May;

Costain

Costain’s new CEO Alex Vaughan has announced several structural and management changes. Darren James has been appointed Chief Operating Officer, having previously been Managing Director for Infrastructure & Power.

The infrastructure division is to be renamed transportation and will cover road, rail and airports, this will be headed up by Ian Parker, formerly Sector Director – Rail. Andy Clarke has been named Airports Director and Julian Dunn will act as interim Rail Director ahead of a permanent appointment being made.

Another new division, natural resources, will encompass water, energy and defence and led by Maxine Mayhew, who was Water Sector Director. Gerard Shore will replace Mayhew as Water Sector Director, Rob Phillips is the Energy Sector Director and Cameron Tonkin takes up the role of Defence Sector Director.

Network Rail

Announces five new regional managing directors. Alex Hynes for Scotland’s Railway; John Halsall for Southern, Mark Langman for Wales and Western; Rob McIntosh for Eastern and Tim Shoveller (who joins from Stagecoach) for North West and Central.

Other senior appointments include Martin Frobisher as Group Engineering Director, Nick King (who joins from Queensland Rail) as Group Director Network Services and Aidan Hancock as Group Chief Information Officer (CIO).  These changes are seen as a key part of making Network Rail more passenger-focused.

TRL

Rob Wallis is to retire from his positions as Chief Executive of the Transport Research Laboratory and parent company the Transport Research Foundation, announcing that he will step down later this year.

Faithful + Gould

Have appointed David Corry as Director of their Corporate Real Estate sector. Corry leaves Turner & Townsend where he has been Director of Project & Programme Management in the Office sector.

Interserve

Have appointed Mark Buckle as new Divisional Director for London and the South-East. Buckle was formerly Operations Director for Interserve Construction has been appointed as part of a wider strategy update of its Paragon and London and South-East fit-out businesses.

ARCADIS

Christopher Jacques has joined as Programme Director, he leaves United Utilities where he has been for the last 10 years, most recently as Director of Strategic Programmes.

Van Elle

Finance Director Paul Pearson has resigned, been in the role for three years. Van Elle is in the process of searching for his successor.

MoD

Charles Hoskins joins the Defence Infrastructure Organisation at MoD to head up the £1.3bn Clyde Infrastructure programme at Faslane. He leaves SPT where he was Director of Subway, responsible for day to day operations as well as our £300m modernisation programme at Glasgow Subway.

Kier

Chief Financial Officer Bev Dew will leave the company by 30 September, Dew was appointed CFO by in January 2015. His successor has yet to be announced.

RDG

Paul Plummer, Chief Executive, has confirmed that he will retire this autumn. The search for his successor has already begun and he will stay in his role until this person is identified.

Turner & Townsend

Nick Clare joins as a Director within the Commercial Development team based in London. Clare leaves JLL where he has been Head of Project Management.
