The Beast from the East has been causing chaos across the country this week and with more snow on the way, it looks like we will be in for a chilly start to March.
But while many have faced a disruptive commute, that didn’t put a stop to the first new Elizabeth Line train test going ahead and being driven through Elizabeth Line tunnels earlier this week – a major milestone for the project.

Network Rail
Chief Executive Mark Carne will retire later this year. He joined Network Rail in January 2014 and will leave later this year, once a new Chief Executive has joined before Control Period 6 commences in April next year.
Canary Wharf Contractors
Cormac MacCrann has stepped down as Managing Director of Canary Wharf Contractors. MacCrann has been with the firm for nearly three decades, specialising in the construction of tall buildings in Canary Wharf.
Affinity Water
National Grid Director of Gas Transmission, Pauline Walsh, will be the new Chief Executive Officer of Affinity Water, taking over from Simon Cocks at the end of April.
Murphy Group
Have appointed Andy Raine as Construction Director on their York Potash project. Andy has extensive experience in major tunnelling projects and joins from Samsung C&T where he has been Project Director for the Samsung Hsin Chong JV in Hong Kong.
Keltbray
Have appointed Peter Burnside, a former Managing Partner at BDO, as its new Financial Director.
Renew Holdings
Tom de la Motte will be joining Renew as Engineering Services Director. He stood down from his role as Infrastructure Managing Director at Galliford Try last year.
TfL
Chris MacLeod has taken on the newly-created role of Customer Director as part of the body’s aim to improve its service for customers. Previously Marketing Director, in his new role MacLeod will also have two newly-created Chief Customer Officers reporting to him with responsibility for different modes of transport.
Agility Alliance
Lawrence Summers takes on the role of JV Director, leading the Agility Alliance formed of J Murphy & Morrison Utility Services to deliver the next phase of development on the Thames Water Infrastructure Alliance.
Southern Water
Richard Price, Southern Water’s Director of Engineering and Construction has concluded his 24-year career with the water company to lead his own business.
WYG
Steve Novis joins as Infrastructure & Built Environment Divisional Director of our Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) team, leaving Atkins where he has been since 1981, most recently as MD of Project and Programme Management.
Simon Marr has also been appointed as Divisional Director to lead its risk and security consultancy business. Marr joins WYG from the BBC where he was Director of Safety, Security and Resilience.
Horizon Nuclear Power
Gwen Parry-Jones has been appointed as Director of Nuclear Operations. She moves from Hinkley developer EDF where she has been Head of Generation.
Gatwick Airport
Have appointed Lesley Hall to the position of Environment, Health, and Safety Director, she joins from Centrica where she was Head of Environment, Health, and Safety for the Merchant Power business.
Bronwen Jones has also been promoted to Development Director. She was previously Head of Development.
RPS
Kevin Kay has joined the Edinburgh office as a Director, he leaves WSP where he was Technical Director. Jamie Connors also joins from WSP as a Director of its London office, he was previously Associate Director.
ScotRail
Angus Thom has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer, having been with the company since 2007 he has been the Engineering Director for the last three years.
UK Power Networks
Philip Heathcote has joined as Bid Director. He moves across from Siemens where he was Sales Director, Rail Systems.
ACE
The Association for Consultancy and Engineering have made four new additions to its advisory board. John Holland-Kaye, Chief Executive of Heathrow; Katrina Hakey, Managing Director, Head of Structured Bonds, Infrastructure and Real Estate at HSBC; Liz Peace formerly Chief Executive of the British Property Federation and Geoffrey Spence, Global Head of Infrastructure, Resources and Energy at Lloyds Bank.
