Movers and Shakers in Transport & Infrastructure – The Headlines from March 2021

It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since the first lockdown was announced! It has certainly been a year of significant change, but things are certainly beginning to look up as we start to ease national restrictions and there has been some exciting shake-ups in the transport and infrastructure sectors this month.

Here is this month’s movers and shakers…

East West Rail

Nilesh (Neil) Sachdev has recently been appointed as the chair of EWR, he succeeds Rob Brighouse who has served as chair since 2017. Neil will serve as chair for three years.

 

Amey

Andy Denman will be joining Amey in May as their new Highways Sector Director to lead its local and strategic highways business, he leaves Ringway Jacobs after 5 years as Operations Director.

 

Galliford Try

David Lowery joined Galliford Try two months ago as Operations Director, however, he now steps up with immediate effect to head up the highway business as the new Managing Director – Highways, he replaces Duncan Elliott who has recently brought forward his departure from Galliford Try.

 

Flowbird Transport Intelligence

David Thompson has recently been promoted as Managing Director for the UK business, he succeeds Owen Griffith who will be taking on a new role within the company focused on business strategy and growth.

 

SYSTRA

Mike Scott joined SYSTRA this month as Director of Transport Planning Policy and Strategy, his role will focus on winning and delivering transport planning assignments across the UK and beyond.

 

John Sisk & Son

Ex-Balfour Northern Project Director Nick Summerfield has recently been appointed as John Sisk & Son’s new Regional Director – North West.

 

Atkins

Penny Anderson has recently joined Atkins as Associate Director of Social Value, she leaves her role at BAM Construction where she led BAM’s social value strategy in the Netherlands and the UK.

 

Wates

Inna Lim has recently left Skanska to join Wates as their new Strategy and Integration Director.

 

Costain

After nearly 14 years as Operations Director at Mace Group, Ann-Marie Morrison joins Costain as a Customer Account Director.

 

WSP

Ex-AECOM Director – Power & Energy Mike Theobald joined WSP recently as their new Director – Energy Transition.

 

Catapult

Connected Places Catapult has recently appointed Hannah Tew as Director of its new air mobility directorate.

 

O’Keefe

After 9 years at Carey Civil Engineering, Marc Daly joins specialist contracting group O’Keefe as Managing Director.

 

Midas Group

Finance Director Mike Ready has recently left the company after serving as Group FD since July 2019, Peter Skoulding succeeds him.

 

Turner & Townsend

Former Director-General of UK Vaccine Taskforce Nick Elliott recently joined Turner & Townsend as a Director to enhance the programme management capability. Nick has also previously held Director roles within Network Rail and Defence Equipment & Support.

 

Highways England

Nic Hillier recently left his role as Director at Faithful+Gould and joins Highways England as Commercial Director for the Lower Thames Crossing.

 

VINCI Construction

Gilles Godard has recently moved internally to become Chief Executive UK Division at VINCI Construction. Gilles was previously CEO VINCI Construction International Network.

 

Mott MacDonald

Sally Sudworth recently joined Mott MacDonald as Global Head of Sustainability and Climate Change, she leaves her role at the UK Environment Agency where she led the net zero carbon strategy for infrastructure and was sustainability lead for flooding and coastal.

 

Ventia

Ex-Balfour Beatty CEO, UK Construction Services Dean Banks recently joined essential services provider Ventia in Australia as their new Group Chief Executive.

 

STRABAG

Andrew Dixon joined STRABAG this month as Commercial Director, he leaves his role at SYSTRA as Commercial Executive.

 

Freightliner Group

After 25 years as Managing Director UK Rail at Freightliner Group, Neil McNicholas announced earlier this month that he will stepping back from the company.

 

Wabtec UK

Tim Bentley has recently been appointed as Managing Director, Faiveley UK and Product Line Director – Rail Systems.  Tim will take direct responsibility for the P&L delivery of Faiveley UK and the Rail Systems Product line.

 

Royal BAM

Board member for TfL Nina Skorupska is set to be nominated by the rest of the board for her new role at Royal BAM’s annual general meeting on 14th April.  Alongside her current boardroom role at TfL Nina also serves as Chief Executive of the Renewable Energy Association.

 

G F Tomlinson

Ian Dalby re-joins G F Tomlinson after a year at nmcn, he will be taking up the role as Operations Manager for its West Midlands business.

 

Sureserve

Bob Holt has stepped down as Executive Chairman with immediate effect, Robert Legget will act as interim Chair and CFO Peter Smith will be interim COO.

 

GGR

GGR has recruited former A-Plant Director Steven King as their new Commercial & Sales Director.

 

Britishvolt

ISG’s Texan owner has joined the board of Britishvolt, William Harrison was one of four new non-executive Directors.
