It’s been a miserable month weather wise, but that’s not been reflected in the transport and infrastructure sectors as we see another bumper month for movers and shakers…
Carla Stockton-Jones has been appointed as Stagecoach’s new UK Managing Director. She will report directly to Stagecoach Chief Executive, Martin Griffiths and take responsibility for over 8,000 vehicles and 24,000 staff. Stockton-Jones joined the company as Regional Director South of England in February this year, and was made Interim Managing Director in July, following the retirement of Chief Operating Officer Mark Threapleton.
MTR Elizabeth Line
Have appointed Nigel Holness to the role of Managing Director. Nigel is currently the Chief Executive Officer for Metro Trains Sydney. Holness plans to relocate back to the UK in early 2021 to take up the position. Richard Schofield will assume the role of Interim Managing Director MTR Elizabeth line following the internal move of Steve Murphy, who takes up the position of Chief Executive Officer MTR UK from 1 October 2020.
Alan Foster joins nmcn in early 2021 as Chief Financial Officer. He replaces Daniel Taylor whose departure was revealed in July. Foster joins from National Grid where he has been for the last 20 years.
Steven Smith, Managing Director Transport & Infrastructure, has announced that he will be leaving the consultant at the end of the year to return to the US. His successor has yet to be announced.
Have appointed Jonathan Edwards as Transport Market Leader for EMEA. He joins from Arora Group, where he held the position of Group Operations Director, focusing on the group’s “Heathrow West” expansion proposal for Heathrow Airport.
Geoff Lippitt moves internally to become Chief Commercial Officer. He has been Business Development Director since September 2011.
Karen Booth has moved internally from her Finance Director role at ISG Engineering Services to replace Mark Stockton as CFO. Booth will take the position at the start of 2021. Stockton leaves after more than a decade with the business.
Have announced the appointment of Neil Walker as the Managing Director of Unipart Rail and Unipart Manufacturing Group. Walker joins from MTR Corporation where he has been European Business Development Executive.
The Go-Ahead Group
Katy Taylor has moved internally to become Chief Strategy and Customer Officer. Taylor has been with the company since 2012, most recently as Group Commercial and Customer Director.
Chris Perry has joined as an Associate Director in the Future Mobility team. Perry has most recently been Managing Director of his own consultancy Intelligent Mobility Solutions.
Nottingham City Transport
Mark Fowles is to retire as Managing Director next April after 27 years with the business. His successor is yet to be announced.
Have announced that Clare Gilmartin will be stepping down as CEO and a Board Member at the end of February 2021. She will remain involved in the business as a Senior Advisor. Gilmartin will be succeeded by Chief Operating Officer Jody Ford.
Serco have appointed Kathryn Darbandi as the new Managing Director for the Caledonian Sleeper service. Kathryn will take up her new role in January 2021. She will succeed Ryan Flaherty who has taken up a new role in another Serco Business Unit.
Have appointed Ben Harris to the newly created role of UK Climate Change and Sustainability Director. Harris joins from Climate-KIC where he has been Global Head of Strategic Funding.
Have appointed Dave Bennett as Operations, Improvements and Innovation Director for its UK and Europe business. He leaves AECOM where he has been Head of Operations and Business Continuity.
Cara Murphy has also joined Atkins as a Client Director in their Strategic Rail team. Murphy leaves GHD where she has most recently been Market Group Manager – Transport.
Ben Wheeldon has joined Mace as JV Programme Director for Euston Station. He leaves Heathrow Airport where he was Programme Services Director, Heathrow Expansion.
Richard Stoodley has joined as Head of Profession, Programme and Project Management. Stoodley was most recently PMO Director at Heathrow Airport.
Have integrated their Design and Consulting Services (DCS) businesses into one global organisation as part of the company’s phased strategy. The new unit will be led by Lara Poloni, AECOM’s President.
Michael Bufalino also joins the company as Chief Digital Officer. He leaves A.P. Moller – Maersk where he has been Group CIO since 2017.
Have appointed Stephen Dale as the newly created Global Rail Director based in Dubai. Prior to joining Cundall, Dale was based in Hong Kong as Head of Engineering at Leighton Contractors (Asia) Ltd.
Campaign for Better Transport
Have appointed Paul Tuohy as its new Chief Executive. Tuohy joins in November having worked for six years transforming the former Cyclists’ Touring Club into Cycling UK.
Helen Ramsden has been appointed as Programme Controls Director. Ramsden has most recently been Deputy Director for Planning and Performance at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
