January is notoriously a popular month to make a career move, and this year did not disappoint. Here is the bumper list of movers and shakers from January…
Network Rail
David Waboso, Managing Director of Network Rail’s Digital Railway programme is set to step down from the position and retire in March.
Kier
Chief Executive, Haydn Mursell, has resigned from the company with immediate effect. Chairman Philip Cox will act as Executive Chairman heading up the business until a new CEO is appointed.
Kier have also appointed Ross MacKenzie as Managing Director Major Projects, Infrastructure, he joins from Costain where he has been Rail Sector Director.
Crossrail
Crossrail has made some major new appointments. Tony Meggs has been appointed as Crossrail’s new Chairman, Meggs was previously Chairman of the Infrastructure Projects Authority.
Nick Raynsford has also been announced as Deputy Chair, Chris Sexton as Deputy Chief Executive, Peter Henderson as Programme Director, Mark Cooper as Programme Controls Director and Colin Brown as Technical Director.
SNC-Lavalin Atkins
Graham Candy has been announced as Managing Director for Europe. Candy has worked at Atkins for 25 years in a number of senior technical and operational roles and will be based in Scandinavia.
They have also appointed Lizi Stewart as Managing Director of its transportation division in the UK and Europe. Stewart joins Atkins from Arcadis, where she was the Managing Director of Highways and Aviation.
High Speed Two (HS2) Ltd
Managing Director for Phase 2, Paul Griffiths, has left to join Jacobs as Metrolinx Programme Director in Canada. Tim Smart has been appointed as Interim Phase 2 Managing Director.
Allan Cooke CBE, a former Chairman of WS Atkins has also been announced as Chairman, following the resignation of Sir Terry Morgan.
ISG
Interserve’s former Construction Managing Director, Gordon Kew, has joined ISG as Chief Operating Officer for Construction. Kew left Interserve last August.
Thames Water
Andy Dunn-Flores joins as Chief Scientist leaving Jacobs where he was Vice President – Global Project Services.
Beacon Rail Leasing
Have appointed Zoe Ho as Director of Financial Planning and Analysis, she leaves Mazars – Infrastructure & Energy (Corality) where she was a Manager.
VINCI
Group Finance Director, Jean-Pierre Bonnet, has left the UK business to take up a different role at the French contracting giant. Bonnet has moved on to become Chief Financial Officer of Vinci’s stadiums operation.
Flowbird
The transport technology firm formerly known as Parkeon, have appointed Steve Clarke as their new Head of Software Engineering
Urban Transport Group
Stephen Edwards, Executive Director of South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE), has been announced as the Chair of the Urban Transport Group. He succeeds Nexus Managing Director Tobyn Hughes.
Transport for the North
Have announced Jeremy Bloom, as Strategy and Programme Director. Bloom joins from Highways England, where he’s most recently been Network Planning Director.
Portsmouth Water
Neville Smith has retired from his position as Managing Director. He is succeeded by Bob Taylor who joins from South West Water where he was Operations Director – Drinking Water Services.
Arriva Rail London
Kate Marjoribanks joins as Engineering Director. She leaves South Western Railway where she has been Head of Engineering.
London Stansted
Have appointed Gerry Whyte as Delivery Director for the airport’s £600m expansion. Whyte was formerly Project Leader at Laing O’Rourke.
Greater Anglia
Martin Beable is set to join Greater Anglia in March as Engineering Director. Beable moves from Arriva UK’s Trains Bid Team, where he is currently Fleet Director.
Highways England
Have announced the appointment of Janette Beinart as a Non-executive Director. Beinart was a Senior Executive at Shell International where she was most recently the company’s Upstream Chief Information Officer.
Steer
Mike Goggin has been appointed as Managing Director UK. Goggin has been with the company since 2011, most recently as Group Client Engagement Director. Mike succeeds Sharon Daly, who is now Steer’s COO.
Balfour Beatty
David Pateman joins Balfour Beatty Major Projects as Commercial Director for HS2. Pateman was most recently Commercial Director – Power & Telecoms at Kier.
Ticketer
Sheryll Ricketts joins as Head of Passenger Solutions, she leaves Payzone where she was Head of Transport and Ticketing.
SPL Powerlines
Paul Houston joins as Head of Commercial on their Midland Mainline project. Houston joins from Balfour Beatty where he was Senior Commercial Manager on the HS2 bid.
John McNichol also joins SPL as Development Director, moving across from BAM Nuttall.
Capita
Mike Birch joins as National Rail Director, leading the UK rail business. Birch leaves CH2M where he was Director of Projects.
Heathrow Airport
Have made several appointments to their Surface Access team. Jo Walker has been appointed as Head of Surface Access Programme Strategy, she leaves Abellio where she has been Head of Strategy.
Chris Casey is to become Road Strategy Lead, joining from HS2 where he has been Traffic Manager. Catherine Warwick-Wilson joins the airport as Sustainable Transport Project Manager (Colleague Travel), leaving GSK. Tim Wells has been appointed Sustainable Transport Project Manager (Roads), moving from TfL.
Rydon Construction
Have appointed Kier’s Regional Operations Director Mark Norris to lead its projects in London and the south-east as Construction Director.
Emeg
The rail M&E contractor has appointed Richard Combes as Design Director. Combes leaves Capita where he was Director, Engineering – Building Design.
Waterman
Have appointed Derek Armitage as Regional Director of its infrastructure and environment team in London. Flood risk and drainage specialist Armitage joins Waterman from SLR.
RSSB
Barbara Moorhouse has been appointed as the new Chair of the Board. Moorhouse is a Non-Executive Director at Balfour Beatty plc, Microgen plc and Agility Trains. She is also a Trustee of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity.
Capital Metro Company (CAMCO)
The RATP Dev subsidiary (in joint venture with Saptco) responsible for operating the Riyadh Metro have appointed Ruud Haket as Interim Managing Director.
