Christmas is over again for another year and while the majority of us are struggling back into the office after one too many mince pies, for these transport and infrastructure professionals the New Year brings a new challenge.
Here are the movers and shakers in transport and infrastructure from December…
Have appointed Matthew Steele as Managing Director of its gas and water business. Steele joins the firm from Network Rail where he was Commercial and Development Director.
Sean Blackmore has been appointed as Rail Sector Director, leaving Murphy Group where he has been Major Projects Director.
Gerry Whyte has been named as Delivery Director to lead the £600m transformation of Stansted Airport. Whyte most recently held the post of Pre-Construction Director at Laing O’Rourke, leading the team through the pre-construction phase of the retail expansion of Brent Cross.
Sean Gray joins as Director of Transportation to deliver the next phase of growth for its transport consultancy team. Gray joins Mace from AECOM, where he spent four years as UK Head of Infrastructure.
Have appointed former Jacobs Technical Director and Airport Design Manager, Matthew Pierpoint as its new Global Aviation Director. Pierpoint will be based in London in what is a new role for Ramboll.
Neville Dyson joins CAF Rail UK as Projects Director. Dyson leaves HS2 where he has been Senior Project Manager since 2016.
Paul Fairbairn has retired from the consultancy where he has been Aviation Divisional Director since 2006.
Have appointed former Severfield Chief Executive Ian Lawson as Non-Executive Director to consult on business expansion.
Go North East
Ben Gilligan leaves the SYPTE where he has been Director of Public Transport since March 2017. He joins Go North East’s East Yorkshire Motor Services as Area Director.
Peter Brett Associates
Steve Rees joins the consultant as Director of Civil Engineering with a focus on the North of England. Rees formerly worked at Kier as Project Director and worked on the Silvertown Tunnel and HS2.
Have promoted Gerald Farque to Managing Director of Construction. Farque joined the firm from Norpac in April 2007 as Project Director.
Janice Crawford leaves Network Rail where she has been Regional Director for Infrastructure Projects since 2016. She joins Johnson Matthey as Global Capital Project Director. Laurence Whitbourn has been announced as Regional Director – Infrastructure Projects for the South.
East West Railway Company
Have appointed Simon Blanchflower as Chief Executive Officer as the organisation moves into its next phases. Blanchflower leaves Network Rail where he has been leading the Thameslink Upgrade Programme as Major Programme Director.
Managing Director for the East of England Saul Humphrey has resigned from the company after almost two years with the firm.
BAM Construct UK
Karen Davenport joins as Frameworks Director replacing Keith Rayner who moved to McLaren earlier this year. Davenport leaves Graham where she was Framework Manager.
Have announced that after nearly 4 years with the Company Mark Hodges, Chief Executive, Centrica Consumer will be leaving at the end of February to take up a new role as Chief Executive of ReAssure. He will be succeeded by Sarwjit Sambhi who joined Centrica in 2001 from Booz Allen & Hamilton, and has held a number of senior leadership positions.
John Crackett, former Non-Executive Board Member of the UK Office for Nuclear Regulation has been appointed as a Non-Executive director to Ofgem. The appointment takes effect from 1 December 2018 and lasts for 5 years.
Have promoted its two Chief Operating Officers (COO) onto its parent board. The move will see John Waterman, COO at Willmott Dixon Construction, and Mike Hart, COO at Willmott Dixon Interiors, join the Willmott Dixon Holdings board from the start of 2019.
