Movers and Shakers in Transport & Infrastructure- The headlines from August

The heatwave seems to have come to an abrupt end as we roll into September, with the football back in full swing, the summer holidays coming to a close and Theresa May dancing away her Brexit woes in South Africa.

Let’s take a look at a different kind of movers and shakers and see who made a move in August…

GTR
Steve White has joined as COO succeeding Nick Brown, who is retiring in September. White leaves TfL where he was 4LM Digital Railway Implementation Director.

Beacon Rail Leasing
Rob Dee joins as Chief Commercial Officer, leaving Macquarie European Rail where he has been Head of Commercial since 2013.

Capita
Has appointed Patrick Butcher as its Finance Director. Butcher joins from Go-Ahead, where he has been for two and a half years. Before that he was Finance Director at Network Rail.

Abellio Group
Perry Ramsey moves internally from ScotRail to Abellio Group as their UK New Trains Operation and Deployment Director, he was previously Operations Director for the ScotRail Alliance.

c2c
Duncan Wilkins has been appointed as Engineering Director replacing Dan Barrett who left to join Eurostar in July. Wilkins leaves Stagecoach Rail where he has been Rolling Stock Lead.

Interserve
Construction Managing Director Gordon Kew will depart at the end of September as the company merges its UK and international construction businesses. Interserve’s international construction boss Paul Franks will head up the new single construction division, with the merger officially completing on 3 September.

SNC – Lavalin Atkins
Have appointed Ceri Evans as Commercial Director Engineering Design and Project Management. She leaves Jacobs CH2M where she has been Commercial Director and Head of Supply Chain UK, Europe, Africa.

Spie UK
Appoint former Rydon Group Finance Director Tony Wilkinson as its new Chief Financial Officer. Wilkinson joins Spie after five months spent as interim Finance Director at construction materials supplier SIG. He replaces Daniel Quint, who has been in the role for nearly three years.

Bouygues UK
Rob Bradley has joined as Chief Executive Officer, following the departure of longstanding boss Lionel Christolomme. Bradley returns to the company after 18 months with Midas as Executive Director.

Olivier Crillon has also stepped down as CFO of the UK business, having held the position since June 2015, and has left the Bouygues Group as well. He has been replaced by Jean Luc Midena, who was working as regional CFO for Bouygues Group subsidiary VSL/Intrafor in the Far East.

Aviation Economics
Nicole Dawson joins as Managing Director, Consulting. Dawson leaves Avia Solutions where she was Director responsible for growth of the airport consulting business.

WSP
Kevin Riley has joined as a Director within the Transportation Division, he leaves Mott MacDonald where he has been Projects Director, Transport.

Balfour Beatty VINCI
Have announced the appointment of former Carillion MD, Mark Davies as Managing Director for its HS2 joint venture. Davies will take on the role from Mark Cutler who has led the JV since January 2017. Cutler was recently announced as the new CEO of Van Elle.

Thames Tideway
Have hired Crossrail Finance Director, Mathew Duncan to be its new Chief Financial Officer. He will replace current CFO Mark Corben, later this year, who is to step down after five years in the post.

ORR
Declan Collier, who recently left London City Airport, has been chosen as the preferred candidate by Transport Secretary Chris Grayling, to replace Stephen Glaister as the Chair of the Office of Rail and Road (ORR). The Transport Select Committee will now hold a public scrutiny hearing with Collier later this year with a final decision to be made subject to the outcome of the hearing. Collier was appointed as a Non- Executive Director of Schiphol Airport earlier this year.

Angel Trains
Have appointed David Jordan as its new COO. Jordan joined Angel Trains in 2002 and has served as Head of Commercial since 2011. He succeeds Kevin Tribley after his recent internal appointment to CEO of the company.

Tribley succeeds Malcolm Brown as CEO, Brown has joined AMP Capital as Senior Principal.

Story Contracting
Martin Smith joins as Regional Manager in charge of the North West. Smith leaves SPL Powerlines where he was Transition Director for integrating Carillion Powerlines into the sole ownership of SPL Powerlines UK Ltd.

Gallagher Group
Nick Yandle will step down from his role as Chief Executive later this year following 13 years with the company and will continue to work with the group in an advisory capacity. His successor is yet to be appointed.

Network Rail
Have appointed Anna- Jane Hunter as Director North of England Rail. She leaves First Group where she has been Head of Operations Development.

The Campaign for Better Transport
Have appointed Darren Shirley as its new Chief Executive succeeding Stephen Joseph. Shirley previously worked as Campaign Manager for consumer group Which?

Aspin
Have appointed, ABC Electrification Managing Director, Graeme Castle as its new Chief Executive. Castle will replace current CEO Russell Ward, who leaves after 18 months leading the company.

Ofo
Joseph Seal-Driver has left the dockless bike hire firm where he has been UK and Ireland General Manager as part of the Chinese company’s restructuring of its UK operations.

Bristol Airport
Bristol Airport has announced Dave Lees as its new CEO. Lees previously served as Managing Director of Southampton Airport.
